Learn the 1st half of the song: each section individually
Techniques:Imitation “Check your neighbor’s” fingering Call-and-response “Who can show the class?...” Use the bass drum as a beat-keeper One half of the class plays for the other half Clap the rhythms (sometimes while counting beats)
Group Work: Mr.Buck works with percussion group while I put the rest of the class into groups of 3 and walk around answering questions as each group figures out the rest of the piece together
Conclusion: Both groups come together to play the piece in a duet in preparation for the Veteran’s Day concert
